Single Parent Families Mutual Support Networking Service

Service introduction

According to the Macau SAR government policy for the financial year 2003, the Macau government will continue to provide special support for the three groups of people who are most in need in the community. Single parent families constitute one of these groups. From September 2003, Social Welfare Bureau liaised with five local non-governmental agencies to start a two years experimental project called ‘Single Parent Families Mutual Support Networking Experiential Project’. This project has proven to be effective during this period of time. As a result, as of September 2005, Social Welfare Bureau decided to make this project into a permanent service in order to fulfil this continuous need for the support of single parent families in Macao. The name of the service is called ‘Single Parent Families Mutual Support Networking Service’. The goal is to actualize the government’s policy of having a community-based mode of service.

  2. Those parents who have to take care of children who have not yet finished full time secondary schooling, who lack a self help capacity, or are under 18 years of age.
