Rehabilitation Service

  • Through the collaboration with non-governmental organizations and public departments and, provide service to people with disabilities and their family members, with the aim to assist them to overcome difficulties and obstacles, reinforce independence and self-confidence, develop gifted potentials and promote quality of life.

Introduction
 
Objectives

The Centre provides “one-stop” comprehensive evaluation services of children’s development, in order to achieve early detection, screening, diagnosis and intervention in a timely manner.
 
Target Group

Children aged 6 or above with suspected development disorders such as:
  • Developmental disabilities or delays;
  • Mental Disorders;
  • Sensory Disorders/Disabilities(Hearing Impairment、Visual Impairment);
  • Physical Disorder、Myopathy、Cerebral Palsy;
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder;
  • Language Development Disorders;
  • Developmental Coordination Disorder;
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD);
  • Learning Disabilities;
  • Emotional and behavioral disorders;
  • Other Developmental Disorders.
 
Service Application

Referral Methods:
  • Children aged 6 or below: referral made after preliminary evaluation in the health center of the residential area.
  • Children attending nurseries: referral made after evaluation in the health center and nurseries notification to the Social Welfare Bureau
  • Children will attend or attending schools: referral made after the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEJ) has been informed by the schools or by applying directly to the DSEJ.
 
Services Provided
 
  • Standardize and coordinate the various services needed for an early intervention;
  • Functional evaluations: including motor coordination, language and communication, cognitive functions, social, psychological and emotional adjustment.
  • Auditory and optical examinations;
  • Screening and diagnosis of children’s developmental problems;
  • Multi-disciplinary consultations;
  • Treatments and referrals at other specialists;
  • Educational placement evaluations/assessment and placement assistance services;
  • Evaluation of social needs, psychological and emotional counseling/support, referral services;
  • Inter-departmental cases management.
