Introduction

  The “Convention on the Rights of the Child” has been applicable to Macao since September 14, 1998. In the Convention, there are four basic rights granted to children, including the right to survival, protection, development and participation. These rights will not be differentiated by factores such as the child’s or his or her parent’s race, sex, language, nationality, nation, social origin, property, disability or other status. According to the provissions of the Convention, a child means every human being below the age of eighteen years, and all children enjoy the rights set forth in the present Convention.。
